Keep Moving for a Balanced Life

"Life is like riding a bicycle - in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving." ― Albert Einstein
Einstein was right. If we stop moving, we can get out of balance pretty quickly.

Physically, we need to move to keep our muscles strong and our bones in alignment. We need the increased oxygen that comes from physical activity to maintain healthy, balanced minds and bodies.

But what about being stuck emotionally? What does moving have to do with that?

Everything.

One of the best things you can do when you're feeling stuck is to get some exercise. Take a walk. Do some deep breathing. You might be surprised by the clarity that comes.

But it's also important to take action. For example, over the years that I've been writing this blog I have felt stuck more often than not. That's why until recently I was writing only once a month, or less. I was waiting to be inspired. I would do anything to avoid sitting down and actually writing. The more I avoided it the less balanced I became, beating myself up for what I "should" be doing. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to stay stuck!

But as any writer will tell you, the only way to write is to write. And the only way to change a bad habit is to start a good one. "Just do it."

The longer you put off taking action, the more stuck you will become. Just take one small step in the direction of your dreams. And keep walking...(or pedaling, as the case may be).
